The RJ45 splitter is used to connect 2 network devices( voice or data) using a single ethernet cable. Rj45 is a standard registered jack and is used extensively in telephone and network connections. However all electronics devices that use 8P8C connector can be called as Rj45 connector. The working of Rj45 splitters can be found here .
They generally comes with three classes . These are
- The data line splitter : This splits the ethernet into two data lines. Note that here the telephones cannot be connected in any of the splitter ports. The internal connections are as shown in the figure.
The data line splitter
- The voice line splitter : This splits the ethernet into two voice lines. These can be used to connect two telephones lines using the splitter. The internal connections are as shown in the figure.

- The splitter for voice and data : This allows you to have a lan/data outlet and a voice outlet. Thus allowing you to connect both telephone and computer using the respective splitters. The internal connections for this are as shown below.

At bulk purchase ,the RJ45 splitters would be very cheaper. There are many Chinese companies which take up only bulk orders at a very low price ( about 3-4 $ per piece). Whereas single splitters may cost around 9 – 12$ per piece.
